Decided that the previous print didn't quite work so I have re-worked it and I like this a lot more though not totally convinced, yet.

Finally back to work so I spent my precious few hours dedicated to illustration per week making a cover for my teaching diary. Perhaps not the best use of my time but I think I needed a bit of mindless doodle. In fact I enjoyed it so much I might do a back cover as well.

I have started making some little origami books as an introductory project for my new teaching post. These are my first efforts, I think I need to practise the hardback binding a bit more before I attempt to show nine year olds how to do it! I think it will be a lovely project though and will help me get to know a bit about the children right from the start. I'm looking forward to it.

After her exciting encounter with the wolf Little Red Riding Hood becomes obsessed with seeking out further danger.

I finally appear to be getting around to writing another book so I thought I would post a combination of writing and doodle in the belief that going public will hopefully encourage me to keep at it even though it is school holidays and we are moving house to another part of the country and I am starting a new job. Chaos reigns in the Symons household but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I am trying hard to incorporate more full on backgrounds as I tend to keep them quite minimal. This is a start. More experimenting I think. Trouble is I do like a bit of white and light. So many things to think about.

I did this a couple of weeks ago but I couldn't upload things for some reason so here it is now. I did do a colour version of it but I prefer the drawing. This week I am determined to complete an Illustration Friday.

I have decided to try and do Illustration Friday again so this was my idea for last week - Safari. I never got around to finishing it but it is great to try out different ideas - gets the creative juices going.

A screen print from the nursery rhyme 'Sing a song of sixpence'. This is also going into the Sudbury exhibition.
This is the first of what I hope will be a series of all the little piggys from the nursery rhyme. It is a gouache painting which I have now produced as a screen print ready for exhibition in Sudbury.
