Originally I wasn't that pleased with this image. I had an idea in my head and I felt I hadn't communicated it as well as I would have liked. I know lack of time should not be an excuse and I am finding ways of working around time issues. However, aspects of this really please me. I am pleased that I used paint because I have been wanting to get back into painting. I like the idea and the sense of play and imagination. I reluctantly showed it to other students today and got some good feedback. I really enjoy having this time to experiment and play with ideas.

David working on a drawing
I took this image in my sketchbook in to a tutorial today and it seemed to go down quite well. I am really quite pleased because I have been trying to find a way to combine my outline work with a more tonal approach and after lots of attempts using a variety of media etc I feel that I might actually be getting there. I shall work on this approach over the weekend and see what I come up with.

Frozen
The above is an illustration I did as a response to Illustration Friday. A small group of us decided to follow the Illustration Friday theme every week and then meet on a Tuesday to see what has been produced. We had our first meeting today and it was great to see other peoples ideas. It is good practice for us as students to try out different themes and work to deadlines. It was also quite a welcome relief from Observational Drawing which has been our first project and which has been occupying our minds for the past 5 weeks.
